SCDnezzy Seakeeping Tests Successful
aerodyn engineering gmbh in Büdelsdorf developed a concept for a floating wind turbine named SCDnezzy. The Y-shaped concrete foundation is carrying a lightweight 8 MW downwind turbine; fixed cylindrical buoys at the ends of the foundation frame ensure floating stability. During the last two years, Overdick conducted a number of hydrostatic and hydrodynamic analyses and assisted in optimization of both foundation and floater geometry.
Recently, aerodyn carried out seakeeping tests in Cork, Ireland using a 1:36 model of SCDnezzy. During the tests, Overdick was on site for direct support.
